Dennis joined the Writers Bloc in June 2003. She worked as a freelance
writer and circulation manager for a southeastern Sussex County weekly
newspaper covering local events, and writing a wide variety of
community related articles. As the Town Clerk for the Town of Dagsboro
for five years, Joyce installed their first computer system and
designed many of its municipal budget and administration programs.
While serving as chaplain for the American Legion Auxiliary in Berlin,
Maryland, she wrote and compiled a collection of prayers used for their
bi-monthly meetings. She has served as
President of ALA Unit 123 and currently is a member of their Executive
Board. She also mentors at a local elementary school in Delaware. She is also the Volunteer Coordinator for the Community Food

Joyce took first place honors in the 2004 Electrifying Romance Contest
sponsored by Write Books (group member Arline Chase). Her story, A Message from the Heart - A Special Valentine
is about a young female intern who learns a poignant lesson about love
from a small boy who's awaiting a heart transplant. It was published in
an anthology on ebooksonthe.net in 2004.
Joyce has
been married to her husband, Mike, for more than fourty years and they have
resided in Dagsboro since 1976. They have a beautiful daughter, Brie,
plus three angelic grandchildren. Their only son, Mike Jr., died in a
tragic accident in 1997, leaving behind an infant daughter. "It was the
most devastating time of our lives," she admits, "but Michael's
wonderful zest for life and the joy he exuded in setting new goals,
meeting all challenges head-on, and making the most of every day has
ultimately encouraged me to achieve more that I ever thought possible
at the time. He is the driving force for me to write. We should never
take a single moment for granted—every one is precious and unique."
In the meantime, she is spoiling her grandchildren as often as possible, loves growing roses, attending auctions, and collecting vintage Big Little Books from the 1930's and 40's. Joyce also has a passion for western and Native American artwork and collectibles. Since the release of To Right All Wrongs, Joyce has also enjoyed traveling
and promoting her first novel, and writing every day. Due to the many
requests from her readers she is currently working on a sequel to To Right All Wrongs. She is also in the process of publishing her first children's book entitled, We're All Special.
To Right All Wrongs
It's 1919
and a very naïve seventeen-year-old, Laureen O'Brian, disillusioned
with her tedious country life in Ireland, immigrates to America united
by a shipboard marriage to Jock Sandowski, a ruthless Polish transient.
Despite his fantastic promises of wealth and happiness the couple
becomes lost amid the turbulent, cruel streets of New York City during
the Great Depression, struggling to raise a growing family while deeply
immersed in poverty and despair. A brutal murder makes society
headlines, strong bonds are broken, and a damaged young detective
discovers the true meaning of his life.
This is a
stirring saga about two families-- one affluent, one impoverished, and
the ties that interweave their lives together. It is a story of deceit,
forgiveness, powerful family devotion spanning thirty years-- and
finding peace through it all.

Reviews
My first
words about this book; absolutely compelling and un-forgetful. It is
the story of those whose lives were intertwined due to a tragedy. Set
in New York City we meet the Sandowski family, are introduced to the
loving mother, abusive father and her five children. We are
particularly taken into the life of her daughter Janice who finds her
friend dead, is attacked by the murderer, escapes and sets the story
into motion.
This act of
violence brings together two families, one wealthy and one poor, and a
detective who falls in love with our sweet Janice. The story is
bittersweet as the author takes us back into time when Janice's mother
left her homeland of Ireland to travel to America with a man who had
stolen her heart. Her life with him was dark and hard but in this work
you will be amazed at this women's faith and love that sustains her and
finally brings her peace.
I could
never do this story justice in one small review, but I will tell you it
has deep emotional stirrings, romance, deceit, loyalty, murder,
suspense, love, hate and some of the most interesting characters that I
have met in a long time. I was truly moved in this read and can
honestly give this book a high recommendation. I promise you will not
be disappointed; well done Ms. Dennis. Thank you; truly a pure reading
enjoyment.

I was
involved from the first page on. The characters seem to come to life as
you read. You can immerse yourself in the time period and feel as if
you are living in New York with the family while sharing their joys and
sorrows. This is the type of book that you don't want to put down until
you are finished. I would recommend it highly and will wait anxiously
for Mrs. Dennis' next book!

I absolutely
love this book! This is one I will read again and again. It is so rich
in history and intrigue. It grabbed me from the first page and didn`t
let me go. It`s been a long time since a book did that to me. I hope
Mrs. Dennis doesn`t stop with this book. Keep writing, and I`ll keep
reading! It was just wonderful. I look forward to more of her books.

This is an
excellent book! I was hooked from the first chapter. I, myself, am not
the type of person who reads on a regular basis (though I should),
however, this book was addicting, intriguing, inspirational, mysterious
and romantic. You instantly fall in love with the characters and it
made me long for a time and place other than the present. I simply
could not put the book down once I started. An easy, fun, almost
liberating read. I was sad when the book ended and only because it
ended.

What a great
read! From the first couple of pages I was hooked, anxiously reading to
see what would happen next. The storyline is incredibly
well-thought-out, and rich with details. After neatly tying up all the
loose ends, the author left us happy for the ending, but mad because
the story was finished! Incredible work from a first-time author. I
hope she does more soon!
